The Balloon Fest Committee is delighted to announce an additional attraction at the event to be held September 9th and 10th at Grimes Field.

For the first time, hot air balloon rides will be offered.

“We have had requests every year and are happy to add this to our program,” said Elton Cultice, event chairman.

Riders Tim Grissom and Trent Bishop will be offering the rides from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each evening.

The ride will cost $10 (cash only) and will take approximately five minutes. The balloon will rise 60 to 80 feet depending on the prevailing winds. Rides are limited to ages 12 and up with a maximum body weight of 200 pounds per person. Youth under 18 must have an adult sign a waiver for participation. Reservations are not available – check in at the Tether Ride tent to register.

In addition to lunging, there will be a balloon launch, balloon glow, food trucks, children’s activities and music – bring your lawn chairs and join in the fun.

As with all hot air balloon activities, the weather is the deciding factor. Hot air balloon activities will continue, weather permitting. Additionally, smoking is prohibited and pets are not permitted on Grimes Field.
