Chester County gears up for first Philly Balloon and Music Festival

GLENMOORE, Pa. (WPVI) — For the first time ever, a local family is hosting their Hot Air Balloon Festival in Chester County.

On this 4th of July holiday, the skies over Glenmoore will be filled with a majestic site for the first ever Philly Balloon and Music Festival.

It is actually a tradition that originated here in 1793.

“Philly is actually the city where the first balloon flew in the United States,” said Bruce Mowday, Jr., event producer for the Philly Balloon and Music Festival.

“It’s also where the Declaration of Independence was signed. The 4th of July weekend is the perfect time to celebrate our nation’s freedom and the flight of the first hot air balloon in the United States”

The Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show festival ground will feature over twenty unique hot air balloons.

The four-day event also includes live music programming, food trucks, beer, wine and family-friendly activities like hot air balloon rides.

“We will have balloons taking off from the pitch, taking guests to the top of the Chester County sky,” Mowday explained. “They will be looking down on Chester County’s beautiful landscape from above.”

The Philly Balloon and Music Festival from July 1 to July 4.

Fireworks will light up the sky at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday July 3.

Organizers have been hosting this event for 11 years in Lancaster County.

They will continue this one too. It arrives in September.
