Opening Ceremonies will begin Friday, August 12 at 6 p.m. and will consist of a patriotic ceremony to salute our service members and first responders, an air show, balloon glow, live music and food trucks. Saturday morning will start early at 6am where the balloons will fly (weather permitting) around Hattiesburg. The festival will go on all day and will include rides, demonstrations, children’s corner, petting zoo, art vendors/exhibition, performances, and more.

Based in Hattiesburg, RISE is a non-profit, faith-based organization that has been helping individuals “rise” to their full potential by providing them with the skills to succeed for 22 years. Formerly known as Pinebelt Christian Women’s Job Corps, RISE was founded in 2001 to help women in the community who needed an extra boost to get back on their feet. In 2016, General Manager Catherine Jorns joined the team and expanded the program to include men as well.
RISE’s mission is to educate, encourage and empower the men and women at RISE towards self-sufficiency. The program consists of two phases: classroom education and mentoring. The first phase is to obtain individual access to education. They also focus on financial literacy to help them understand how to best manage their money and offer career development skills.
The second phase consists of taking the steps towards the goals that the individual set during the first phase. This is done through weekly (or daily) mentorships. RISE prides itself on being a “support program, not distribution”. This is considered a major force because it allows the individual to succeed and grow without stripping him of his dignity. Through education and mentorship, along with love and encouragement, these men and women are given the tools to build successful lives for themselves and their families.
