‘Kingfish’ Headlines Saturday Night Natchez Balloon Festival – Mississippi’s Best Community Newspaper

One of the most influential new voices in blues music will headline the 2021 Natchez Balloon Festival.

Festival organizers have released a list of artists and bands who will entertain crowds at the festival site overlooking the Mississippi River on the grounds of the historic house, Rosalie.

Christone “Kingfish” Ingram will headline Saturday’s lineup and The Fabulous Thunderbirds will headline Friday night’s lineup.

Other musical groups scheduled for the festival on October 15 and 16 are Tank and the Bangas, J & the Causeways, YZ Ealey, Jamell Richardson and Matt Willis.

The exact date and time each artist is scheduled to perform is expected to be released soon.

Ingram is 22 years old American blues guitarist and singer from Clarksdale, Mississippi. Ingram started turning heads as a blues guitarist at age 11 and hasn’t looked back since.

Ingram was scheduled to play the New Orleans Jazz Fest this year before it was canceled.

In 2020, Ingram won five Blues Music Awards, including Album of the Year, Male Blues Artist of the Year, and Best Guitarist. Her critically acclaimed debut album in 2019 was nominated for a Grammy.

The festival weekend will start on Friday, October 15 with the festival’s favorite ‘light balloon’ on Rosalie Cliff at dusk, followed by fireworks over the river.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. Friday.

The festival will continue on Saturday with live music, food vendors, arts and crafts, a sports tent, carnival and hot air balloons. Organizers hope to shine a second balloon on Saturday night, weather permitting.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. Saturday, with music acts beginning around 2 p.m.

Unlike previous years, there will be no festival on Sunday, but a hot air balloon launch from the north end of Mississippi River Cliff Park is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, weather permitting.
