Missing the annual Plano Hot Air Balloon Festival? You can still take a ride this fall

Although the Plano Balloon Festival was canceled again this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can take a hot air balloon ride elsewhere.

At least three hot air balloon companies in North Texas, including two in the Plano area, offer hot air balloon rides and other services.

The 2021 HEB Central Market Plano Hot Air Balloon Festival scheduled for Sept. 17-19 has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, the event’s nonprofit organizers announced in August. Organizers have said they expect the hot air balloon festival to resume in 2022.

The Hot Air Balloon Festival is a long-running event that typically features dozens of hot air balloons flying over Oak Point Park each September.

Here are some of the hot air balloon companies nearby:

  • Air Adventures Aloft in Lewisville offers hot air balloon rides, sales, training, special events and promotions. Hot air balloon rides are offered year-round, weather permitting. According to its website, the company has over 28 years of aviation experience.
  • Rohr Balloons at Anna offers flight packages for special occasions, weddings, and team building exercises, to name a few. The family business also did stunts and worked on the 1977 film, The Great Balloon Race, before opening in Texas in 1994.
  • Hot Air Balloon Adventures by Wayne offers scenic hot air balloon rides over Dallas, Fort Worth and surrounding areas. The Grand Prairie-based company claims to have the largest balloon fleet in the state.
