Yes, look up. The skies of Siskiyou will be colorful next weekend with the arrival of nearly a dozen hot air balloons floating on the horizon.
The (mostly) annual Montague Balloon Fest returns September 23-25. taking place at many sites in downtown Montague.
“The event has been around for almost 25 years, but the last two years haven’t really happened,” said Crystal Stiles, executive director of the North Siskiyou Chamber and one of the event’s main sponsors. “He’s back with vastly expanded experiences.”
Some of these experiences include drone demonstrations, live music, parades, kites, craft vendors and more. Organizers expect around 2,000 attendees each day, coming for the balloon launch, air show parade and other free events.
Tickets are required for the Friday Rise Up Siskiyou Concert, Saturday One Country Concert, Night Glow at the Airport, Whiskey and Wine Tasting, and Hot Air Balloon and Helicopter Rides. Tickets and reservations can be purchased online at montagueballoonfest.com.
“After everything our community has been through over the past few months, we can’t wait to have fun and be together at an event that has been a crowd favorite for many years,” Stiles said.
