Shenandoah to headline 4th Annual Family Freedom at Balloon Fiesta Park – City of Albuquerque

July 27, 2022 – The City of Albuquerque’s Freedom 4th returns to Balloon Fiesta Park for a fun-filled day of fun and family activities on Monday, July 4 from 3-10 p.m. Headlining the free event is Shenandoah, one of country music’s biggest bands, as they kick off their 35th anniversary tour. Local music, kids’ activities, food and drink all lead to the brightest fireworks show in the state.

When country music fans talk about the biggest bands in the genre, Shenandoah is always at the forefront of any discussion. Fueled by the distinctive voice of Marty Raybon and the band’s musical talent, Shenandoah became well known for delivering hits such as Two Dozen Roses, Church on Cumberland Road and Next to You, Next to Me, as well as such beautiful classics. as I Want to be Loved Like That and the award-winning duet Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart with Alison Krauss. The boys of Muscle Shoals left a mighty legacy in country music with over 300 million streams, over 8 million combined album sales and 13 #1 radio singles over more than three decades. Shenandoah takes the stage at 7:45 p.m.

A 4th of July ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. and a 45-minute fireworks display will close the evening at 9:15 p.m. (weather permitting). Throughout the evening, spectators can grab a bite to eat at local food vendors offering treats ranging from burgers to ice cream. Local breweries, distilleries and wineries will be on hand at The Cantina, where there will be great views of the main stage. Free kids’ activities include face painting, inflatable jumping houses, and two rock climbing walls.

Parking at Balloon Fiesta Park is $10 cash only per vehicle upon arrival. Prepay parking at for contactless entry. The Park & ​​Ride service provided by ABQ Ride will run from the Cottonwood and Coronado Malls to Balloon Fiesta Park from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Round trips to both Park & ​​Ride locations will begin immediately after the fireworks. A bike valet will be provided by Esperanza Bicycle Education Center on the northeast side of the Balloon Museum.
