After two years of rescheduling and cancellations during the coronavirus pandemic, the Temecula Valley Hot Air Balloon and Wine Festival will be back from June 3 to 5.
The 39th annual event will feature the usual hot air balloon rides and displays, food and drink, cooking demonstrations and live music. Night concerts will be title by country star Hunter Hayes on Friday, June 3; Poison frontman Bret Michaels on Saturday, June 4; and Chayce Beckham, winner of “American Idol”from Apple Valley on Sunday, June 5.
Of them balloon shineswhich feature screens that light up at night after sunset, will be staged on Friday and Saturday evening.
This year’s festival, slated again for the Lake Skinner Recreation Area near Temecula, will feature 18 wineries and eight new breweries, including several businesses that were started during the pandemic.
Although they had to cancel the festival twice, organizers held a 2020 balloon glow and fundraiser for local hospitals and first responders.
“Two years away has been really difficult for us,” said festival vice-president Lynn Shaver. “I think everyone is ready to come back and celebrate.”
Per Riverside County Health Department guidelines, there will be no COVID-19 mandates at the festival and masks will be optional, Shaver said. The organizers are looking for volunteers.
