Knoxville, Tenn. (WATE) — The Great Smoky Mountain Balloon Festival is making a comeback in eastern Tennessee.
The festival will feature 12 balloonists to paint the skies of the Smoky Mountains in breathtaking colors. There will also be live entertainment, artisans, as well as a food truck lot and beer tent.
Speaking about the event, Little Arrow Outdoor CEO and festival organizer Carmen Simpher expressed her excitement for the event’s fifth year.
“The Hot Air Balloon Festival is a visually stunning backdrop of mountains and hot air balloons,” Simpher said. “It’s a fascinating exhibition, and I’m glad we’re bringing this festival to Townsend for another year.”
The 2022 Great Smoky Mountain Balloon Festival is set to take place Saturday August 20 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Townsend Visitor Center located at 7906 East Lamar Alexander Parkway.
In addition, on August 19, a VIP event will take place at the same location from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. This evening offers a private and intimate experience with music, food and a tethered balloon ride. Funds raised from VIP ticket sales are donated to the non-profit Townsend/Cades Cove Gateway Alliance (TCGA).
